BED & PROVISIONS AT THE ORCHARD COTTAGE
This little getaway has been revived from it's former life as croquet clubrooms, embracing the lovely old features, the decor is open and light. With a 'shabby chic' quality, the style is relaxed while never compromising on comfort.
The open living space is bright and airy, making the most of the views across the bush valley and swaying gum trees where sunsets can be simply magical. A cushion-filled daybed, vintage arm chairs and plenty of holiday reading complete this retreat-like space and may make it hard to leave. Enjoy your own music through the wireless speaker and if you do need to connect with the world, free Wi-Fi is available for your use.
Complimentary organic tea and locally roasted coffee are provided, we also recommend adding a basket of hand-picked local provisions when you book your escape (see below for details). The kitchenette is furnished with a small fridge and equipment for preparing delicious light meals, including some pantry basics (oil, seasoning, butter, milk etc.). Enjoy your home cooking at the lovely Kauri dining table or on the expansive verandah, which is almost always sheltered from hot summer sun or a breeze on cooler days.
The bedroom has a cozy queen bed with quality 100% cotton linen and picture windows take in views of the small orchard and native bush surrounds. In the roomy bathroom is a high pressure shower over a large bath, cotton towels and natural soap.
The Orchard Cottage is positioned atop 30 acres of regenerating native bush which borders a Department of Conservation valley reserve. There's a wide bush track on the property leading you down to a rocky bottomed stream and a small clearing with a picnic table. While the walk is steep, it makes a fantastic outing for nature-lovers of all ages. Be sure to bring some walking shoes and togs in the summer, the refreshing stream is perfect for a dip.
A recent addition to the Orchard Cottage is two side-by-side outdoor baths. This private space surrounded in subtropical gardens and overlooking the native bush is the ultimate in relaxation. Wind down with a hot soak and some star gazing at the end of your day, or escape the heat of summer with a cool soak. They are exclusively yours to enjoy.
As your hosts we're just a phone call away to answer any questions or provide assistance if required, apart from this though, it's your escape and you'll be left to enjoy it as you choose. The Orchard Cottage is ideal for a single or couples. It can cater for up to four people if required with the French-style daybed (with trundler) in living room providing two singles or an extra double bed.
PRICING: Starts at $290 per night for up to two people. Extra people $25 per person per night.

We are happy to host well behaved dogs at the Orchard Cottage, please provide details at the time of booking and wait for confirmation.
Please note the property is not fully fenced and it is expected that pets stay close to the cottage. If walking the bush track, dogs must stay on the track provided or on a lead. Inside the Cottage we ask that they stay off the furniture and out of the bedroom. It is expected they will also have their own bed or crate to sleep in. Please clean up after your dog, a separate dog bin is provided.
Ben is our resident Border Collie X, he is very accustomed to receiving visiting dogs and will often greet you happily on arrival but will then leave guests and their owners to enjoy their stay.

You'll need your own transport to and from the cottage as there is no regular public transport to this area. While the setting is rural, it's not remote and you're never very far from amenities and lots of attractions.
Just 10 minutes to Parua Bay village, 15 minutes to lots of beaches, walks and scenic activities, as well as Whangarei centre for shopping, art, restaurants and all other services.
